Doctor Who coloring page by Walter Geovani.
First, Doctor Who is a British science fiction television series created by Sydney Newman and Donald Wilson. The latter has been broadcast since November 23, 1963 on BBC One. It tells the adventures of the Doctor, who travels through space and time aboard a spaceship, the TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space). When the Doctor is mortally wounded, he can survive by regenerating; he then changes his appearance and, to a certain extent, his personality, but while retaining the memory of his previous lives.
Doctor Who is historically the longest-running science fiction series of all time, boasting over 700 episodes and 144 more since its 2005 re-creation. The series has 846 episodes and is still in production.
Moreover, in 1989, after 26 seasons, the BBC decided to cancel the series. In the hope of restarting it, the channel produced a TV movie with FOX in 1996, which had little success. In 2003, the BBC announced that a second series would be produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner, with Davies as lead writer. Christopher Eccleston is announced as the new interpreter of the main character. Broadcast since 2005, the second series has eleven seasons to date, with broadcast in many countries including France and Canada.
