First, stained glass is a composition of glass formed from pieces of glass. These can be white or colored and can be decorated. The word stained glass designates a technique while closing a fixed bay with glass is called a canopy.

Since the beginning of the Middle Ages, these parts are assembled by lead rods, called in the same way, “lead”.
