Johanna Basford is probably one of the most well-known adult coloring book illustrators out there, she has given us such beautiful titles as: “Secret Garden”, “Enchanted Forest” and “Lost Ocean”. Here is a bit of his story.
Johanna Basford was born in Scotland and grew up on her parents’ fish farm in Auchnagatt in Aberdeenshire. She graduated from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) in Dundee in 2005 with a degree in Textile Design and majoring in Screen Printing. Basford lives and works in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where she owns a small studio in a converted farmhouse with large windows that overlook the surrounding fields. She believes that computer-generated illustrations can feel “cold and soulless”, which is why she uses traditional media.
