Mandala to color for free.
————————————————————–
First, Mandala (मण्डल) is a Sanskrit term meaning circle, and by extension, sphere, environment, community. In Buddhism, it is used mainly for meditation. Either way, it’s a diagram filled with symbols that can be associated with a deity. Moreover, certain mandalas, very elaborate and codified, become semi-figurative, semi-abstract.
In addition, the mandala is also sometimes a support for meditation in three dimensions. When this is the case, they are works of art and patience of great complexity.
Second, the construction of the mandala is in itself a spiritual and reflective practice. In the room, other monks meditate and pray in order to strengthen the bodhicitta and thus bless the mandala, which will be offered to the Buddhas and to the universe. Furthermore, the mandala is then “destroyed” and the sand is gathered in front of everyone for a spiritual offering to a deity. The mandalas are also there to show that everything is ephemeral and fragile…
Undoubtedly inspired by rangoli, these sand patterns drawn by Hindus. Women draw sand patterns on it to attract good spirits into the house and religious people make divine patterns in their religious ceremonies.
