First, Transformers is an American science fiction film directed by Michael Bay and released in 2007. Produced by Paramount Pictures, it is adapted from the homonymous animated series that aired from 1984 to 1987.
The year of its release, the film started in 1st place, before finishing in 3rd place.
Two sequels, Transformers 2: Revenge (Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen) and Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) were released in 2009 and 2011 respectively, forming a first trilogy.
A fourth film, Transformers: Age of Extinction (Transformers: Age of Extinction) was released in July 2014, and a fifth, Transformers: The Last Knight was released in 2017.
