Firstly, Christmas is a festival of Roman origin celebrated every year, mainly on the night of December 24 to 25 as well as the 25th all day. As a Christian holiday, it commemorates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.

Today, Christmas has become strongly secularized and is no longer necessarily celebrated as a religious holiday. Christmas Day is a public holiday in many countries, which allows family reunion around a festive meal and the exchange of gifts. The second day of Christmas (December 26) is also a public holiday in several northern European countries.
