Snow globe drawing activity for Christmas.

————————————————————–

First, The snow globe, also called a snowball or snowball, is a spherical object made of glass or transparent plastic. Sometimes considered a gimmick, it contains a decorative pattern, water and plastic flakes to represent snow. When it is turned over, it begins to snow in the ball.

Its origin goes back, it seems, to the Universal Exhibition of 1878 in Paris, where master glassmakers were honored. American commissioners reported their interest in “blown glass paperweights, filled with water, showing inside a figure of a man sheltering under an umbrella” and that “these balls also contain a white powder which, turning over the paperweight, falls imitating a snowstorm”. But none of the names of the seven master glassmakers who apparently made and exhibited snow globes during this Exhibition were mentioned at the time and they have therefore fallen into oblivion.
