Grayscale adult arttherapy snake drawing.
First, the name cobra (/kɔbʁa/) designates several species of venomous snakes of the family Elapidae, notably of the genus Naja, which have the particularity of extending a headdress when in combat posture. They are found in Asia and Africa.
The term is sometimes used to designate certain particular species, in particular the Indian cobra, known as the spectacled snake (it is the latter that is associated with the snake-charming fakir, in popular imagery) or the Egyptian cobra, a totally different biotope. This practice is a source of confusion and should not make us lose sight of the fact that it is an ambiguous name designating several very diverse species.
