Cactus coloring page to draw.
First, Cacti, Cacti or Cactaceae (Cactaceae) are a family of flowering plants. They are almost all fat plants or succulent plants, that is to say xerophytic plants which store reserves of “suc” in their tissues to cope with long periods of drought.
Do not confuse cactus and succulent plant: all succulent plants are not cactus. These are families of plants that have adopted the same methods of combating periods of drought, such as the Asclepiadaceae or the Crassulaceae.
Certain plants of these other families, by convergence of the forms of species subjected to the same constraints, strongly resemble cacti. This is the case, for example, of cactiform euphorbias such as Euphorbia canariensis.
To distinguish real cacti from plants that look like them, it is necessary to refer to the criteria of belonging to the Cactaceae family. The identification is made by the presence of areoles, and, as more generally in botany, by the flowers and the fruits.
Contrary to popular belief, Cactaceae are not considered to be trees. Cacti cover a wide range of shapes and sizes. There are spherical, cylindrical, pillar-shaped, with pointed or racket-shaped leaves called cladodes… The largest is Pachycereus pringlei, with a measured size of 19.2 m, the smallest is Blossfeldia liliputiana, d 1 cm in diameter at its adult size.
