First, Christmas is an annual holiday, originally Roman generally celebrated from December 24 until the end of the day on the 25th. Above all, it’s a Christian holiday is the commemoration of the birth of Jesus. Nowadays, Christmas is more secular and is celebrated less as a religious holiday.
Generally, we add the New Year to Christmas, in which case we refer to this period in Canada as the “holiday season” and for France, it is the “celebration of the end of the year”.
