First, Halloween (Canadian usage) is a celebration with Celtic origins. It is usually underlined on the evening of October 31. Although its name is of Christian, English origin, most of the time, Halloween is seen as a legacy of the Samain holiday. Originally, the Celts celebrated it at the beginning of autumn and for them, it was a kind of New Year’s celebration. It is a very popular festival around the world, but for Ireland, Scotland and Wales there is a wealth of historical evidence of its existence. The Jack-o’-lantern, a Halloween icon, comes from an Irish legend.
