First, the PlayStation is a fifth generation video game console. And it has been produced by Sony Computer Entertainment since 1994. The original PlayStation was the first machine in the PlayStation line. It was then declined in PSone (a smaller and lighter version than the original).

Second, on May 18, 2004, almost ten years after its launch, Sony announced that it had distributed 100 million consoles worldwide and more than 962 million PlayStation games.
